Fall 1943. Young Rosa, fleeing bomb-stricken Berlin, reaches a small isolated village near the eastern border. This is where her in-laws live and where her husband, engaged at the front, has written to her to take refuge while awaiting her return. Rosa soon discovers that the seemingly quiet village hides a secret: within the forest it borders, Hitler has his headquarters, the Wolf’s Lair. The Führer sees enemies everywhere; being poisoned is his obsession. One morning at dawn Rosa is picked up, along with other young women from the village, to taste the food cooked for him. Torn between fear of death and hunger, the tasters will form alliances, friendships, and secret pacts with each other. Rosa, the Berliner, struggles to be accepted. But when she finally overcomes her distrust of her, something happens that will make her feel guilty. An SS officer, against all rationality and in spite of herself, awakens love in her. Or perhaps the simple need to feel alive, despite everything.

Constanze Brandt and Jens Brandt are a team, a couple, parents—and above all, they are both employed, trying to juggle the demands of work and family life. Between late-night taxi shifts and weekend office hours, they barely manage to hold their lives together, often meeting for rushed discussions in Jens‘ taxi during short breaks between work. Their son Luis is frequently shuffled between them as they navigate their hectic schedules. One day, a phone call from school throws their already fragile routine into chaos: Luis is being bullied. The cause of the bullying is his favorite unicorn backpack, a beloved item he’s encouraged not to bring to school anymore. But for Luis, getting rid of the backpack is non-negotiable. As tensions rise and the situation worsens, the family finds itself in deeper conflict. The taxi, which once served as their makeshift meeting point, turns into a kind of boxing ring—a small space where the parents are forced to confront broader, universal questions about parenting, identity, and societal expectations.
Maren (Sandra Hüller), Robert (Max Riemelt) and Volker (Ronald Zehrfeld), who have known and loved each other since childhood, find the GDR’s millions, which have been stored there to rot, by chance in an old mine shaft. Halberstadt in the summer of 1990: Maren (Sandra Hüller), Robert (Max Riemelt) and Volker (Ronald Zehrfeld) have known and loved each other since childhood and, rather by chance, find the millions of GDR money stored there to rot in an old mine shaft. The three of them smuggle out backpacks full of money. Together with their friends and neighbors, they develop an ingenious system to exchange the worthless money for goods and cheat the onrushing Westerners and their capitalism. Because if you’re a bit clever now, this summer can not only be a great adventure, but also the final turning point in your life. TWO TO ONE, a great love and friendship comedy about money and justice. And a tribute to a very special time when anything seemed possible.
